Aug 01, 2016 04:49PM ● Published by Today's Family

Each year on Labor Day, the parking lot of Gross Schechter Day School, 27601 Fairmount Boulevard in Pepper Pike, is transformed into a dynamic fairground featuring delicious kosher foods, family-friendly attractions, festival games and activities, entertainment, vendors, and more. The 24th Annual Kosher Rib Burn-Off (RBO) presented by Pirhl, LLC promises to be bigger and better than ever.  Friends of all ages are invited to this free event Monday, September 5 from noon until 4 pm.

Preparation of the ribs will take place at Gross Schechter Day School the week leading up to the event with Mashgiach Rabbi Aryen Spero overseeing the process.  The day of the Rib Burn-Off, the kosher beef ribs will be grilled by a variety of teams as part of a friendly competition which is judged by a panel of local celebrities.  The winner will be presented the coveted grill master title and trophy at the conclusion of the event.  Bragging rights will also be granted to the victors!

The event, which draws over 3,000 people annually to Gross Schechter, also offers carnival-style games for all ages, an assortment of prizes, a bounce house, a video game truck, an obstacle course combo, a dunk tank, rock climbing wall, airbrushing, balloon twisting and new this year, a kid zone for babies and tots as well as other great family-friendly activities––all of which is a recipe for one of Cleveland’s most fun and festive family events.

New this year is a chance to win an ALL expenses paid trip to the 2017 People’s Choice Awards in January or a $2,000 cash prize (grand prize will be available when a minimum of 160 raffle tickets are sold. If the minimum is not met, the prize is a 50/50 raffle).  The prize includes airfare, hotel and event tickets for two (2).  The People’s Choice Awards ceremony takes place in Los Angeles. In addition, the winner will win a scrub signed by the entire cast of Grey’s Anatomy. The drawing will take place September 29, 2016, winner will be notified via phone or email. Tickets are $50 each.  Get your tickets today at www.grossschecter.org/rbo.  The winner will be notified after the September 29 drawing.

Proceeds from the raffle and the RBO will allow Gross Schechter Day School to offer financial assistance to any family requiring aid, subsidize tuition to keep tuition rates low for all families, as well as pay for technology and other resources that keep the school’s curriculum at the cutting edge of education.
