Laketran launches mobile app as latest technology upgrade

Jun 27, 2017 01:10PM ● By Today's Family
In the last year, Laketran has launched a fleet of customer service tools to help residents navigate the local public transit system and access their door-to-door Dial-a-Ride service.  Next in line is a new Rider Tools mobile app now available for smartphone users.

By downloading the free app, riders can plan a trip, track their bus location and get up-to-the-minute arrival times for bus stops on Local Routes and Park-n-Ride routes in Cleveland.  Local Routes and Park-n-Ride riders can also plan future trips with Google Maps and bookmark their favorite routes.
Rider Tools mobile app features include:
• An interactive map that displays all 715 Laketran bus stops and Park-and-Ride locations
• Real-time bus tracking
• GPS and filters to find the best public transit options based on rider’s current location
• Trip planning
• Directions on how to get real-time departures by text messaging
• Ability to designate routes as favorites and email itineraries
• Laketran timetables
• Laketran fares, including discount fare options
• Click-to-call for direct calling to Dial-a-Ride reservations

Laketran’s Dial-a-Ride passengers, who are primarily seniors and people with disabilities, can also benefit from using the new app. The app features a direct click-to-call link to the Laketran Dial-a-Ride reservation line at 440-354-6100.  With the app downloaded on your smartphone, Dial-a-Ride riders will have easy access to call customer service to cancel a trip or confirm any information about their rides.

With people constantly on the go and more than fifty percent of riders using mobile devices to obtain information, the new Rider Tools app is one more way that Laketran is trying to make riding public transit easier for all riders on Local Routes, Park-n-Ride and Dial-a-Ride.

“Everyone wants information in the palm of their hand.  In the last year we have launched a new website, integrated with Google Transit, and implemented a program where you can find out when the bus will arrive at your bus stop with a simple text message,” explained Julia Schick, director of communications and marketing for Laketran.  “The new app is your one stop shopping for all of these tools and includes a click-to-call option for Dial-a-Ride customers.”
