Jul 17, 2017 01:02PM ● By Today's Family
The 162nd Lake County Fair will run July 25–30 at the county fairgrounds on Mentor Avenue in Painesville Township.  This year’s dates have been moved ahead three weeks to avoid conflicts with school starts.

The 2017 fair will be packed with fun for the whole family.  Two demolition derbies, motocross racing, a truck and tractor pull, side-by-side dirt track drag racing and lawn mower racing are all included in this year’s entertainment line-up.

The fair starts on Tuesday, July 25 with free admission to all until 3 pm.  You won’t want to miss the opening day parade starting at 6 pm featuring 150 units traveling from Painesville City west on Mentor Avenue to the fairgrounds.  The grand marshal will be Ohio Fair’s Queen Crista Wortkoetter joined by new Lake County Fair Hall of Fame inductees Judy Parker and Dave Wilcox.  Opening evening entertainment will feature the first of the week’s two demo derbies.
Wednesday is Veterans Day with veterans admitted free all day.  Wednesday evening will feature ARMA sanctioned lawn mower racing at the main grandstand for the first time ever.

Thursday is Kids Day with free admission for ages 18 and under and with free activities, games and prizes for ages 12 and under at the main grandstand at noon.  Ride wristbands are available for $6 on this day only.  The Lake County Fair Prince and Princess Contest and the Kids Day Talent Show will make this a Kids Day Extravaganza.

Friday is Seniors Day with age 60 and over free until 3 pm with a free boxed lunch while they last and other activities in the Lake County Farm Bureau Entertainment Tent.  Harness racing will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday this year with a noon post time.

The weekend will feature a horse pull, the annual 4-H Livestock Auction, Power Truck and Tractor Pull, Faith, Family and Country Night, Latino Day and the Lake County Demo Derby…the granddaddy of all demo derbies.  Free on-grounds acts this year will include the First Bite Fishing Tanks and Matt Hannah, the Insane Chain Saw Carver.
