Winners announced in the 2018 RoboBots competition

The 2018 RoboBots competiton was held on April 28 with teams competing from all over northeast Ohio.  RoboBots is a combat robotics program for high school students with the goal of giving them real-world manufacturing experience while building and competing their robot in a tournament.

Cleveland Heights High school surprised the crowd of 3,000 spectators at Lakeland Community College when Team Black defeated Beaumont in the semifinals, setting the stage for Cleveland Heights Team Gold versus Team Black to vie for first place!  The two Heights teams battled each other in a gentle match and Team Black took home the first place.  Cleveland Heights Team Gold took second place, with Beaumont in third.

In the Junior Bots division, Kenston Middle School's Optimistic Sea Banshees won first place. Mentor Memorial Matrix took second, and Cardinal Middle School's Steel Spartans took third.   

Additional awards went to Beaumont School (Coolest Bot, Best Documentation, Best Team Presentation), Madison High School's Dreadnaught (Best Engineered), Kirtland High School Team Hydra (Best Sportsmanship), Cardinal Middle School Steel Spartans (Best Engineered Junior Bot) and Wickliffe Middle School Cyber Savages (Coolest Junior Bot).
