Greater Cleveland Aquarium adds new species to their exhibit

Did you know male seahorses are the ones who give birth?  That moon jellyfish don’t have brains?  Or that some sharks lose up to 30,000 teeth in their lifetime?  You can see these creatures up close when you visit the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and more amazing species are being added this year.

At the beginning of 2018 the Aquarium announced $250,000 in planned upgrades including exhibit enhancements and the addition of 12 new species (some of which have already arrived) such as weedy seadragons (pictured), spiny lumpsuckers and flashlight fish.  “From finding ways to highlight the history of the brick powerhouse we call home to giving toddlers an imaginative area where they can role play running an aquarium, visitor feedback is informing these changes,” explains GM Tami Brown. “Guests have expressed how much they value learning about important conservation issues, so we also are adding ideas for simple ways we can all help minimize our impact on the environment.”  Dads are free on Father’s Day with a paying child, so it’s a great opportunity to check out recent improvements to the Aquarium’s Coastal Boardwalk, Asia & Indonesia and the ImagiQuarium galleries.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium is located on the west bank of The Flats at 2000 Sycamore Street.  Call 216-862-8803 or visit them online at www.greaterclevelandaquarium.com for more info and hours.
