Leadership Geauga raises $14,094 for Geauga County 4-H

Leadership Geauga honored Geauga County 4-H as their 2018 Emerald Leader and raised $14,094 during their annual Emerald Ball to support our local 4-H programs.  Presented to the Geauga 4-H advisory council, this money will be used by the council to provide youth 4-H members with scholarships to Camp Whitewood and will provide seed money for a new leadership initiative geared toward older 4-H club members.

“Geauga County 4-H is beyond excited to receive this support from Leadership Geauga. The money will be used immediately to support youth attending our 4-H camp and for several years to come as we are developing an older youth leadership camp opportunity that combines both the mission of 4-H and that of Leadership Geauga. We are very grateful as this allows us to explore new opportunities that would not be possible otherwise.  Alisha Faudie, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development

“Through the generosity of our alumni network and local community leaders, we are able to provide a significant financial gift to this outstanding organization.  We value the work that 4-H does to enhance the leadership skills of their youth members and we are proud to support an organization that shares our mission and passion for educating and training our future leaders” Leadership Geauga Executive Director, Melanie Scanlon.

The Geauga County 4-H Program has over 750 youth enrolled and utilizes over 125 adult volunteers to organize and lead 37 county based 4-H clubs.  4-H is a non-formal educational, youth development program offered to individuals age 5 and in kindergarten to age 19.  Geauga County 4-H offers a wide range of youth leadership opportunities including camper and camp counselors, public speaking, financial literacy, educational livestock clinics, project skills judging, field trips, and community outreach events.  Participants increase their self-confidence and develop life skills while learning specific subjects - from animals to robotics, cooking, art, and environmental sciences.
