Healthy Kids Day
Lake County Y collaborates with Greater Cleveland Y and others at Quicken Loans Arena
Children and their families are invited to join the Lake County YMCA, YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Lake County Captains, and other community organizations for Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, March 3 from 3-5PM at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland. Family activities are free, however pre-registration is required online at clevelandymca.org. Children and their families can enjoy games and activities to get children moving and parents thinking healthy. Family fun is planned throughout the day including hula-hoop contests, GAGA (sponsored by the Lake County West End Y), face painting, fitness challenges, health checks, and much more. “In order to thrive, we need human interaction and balance in our lives. We need to take care of ourselves, eat well, stay safe, be active, and always continue to learn and grow. This isn’t easily accomplished in the technological and polarized world in which we live. Little things like playing outside are becoming increasingly rare. The mission driven Y steps in to fill these gaps in Society, reaching out to our communities, offering something for everyone. The Y focuses on balance with programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all,” said Pattie Ritt, Child Care Director for the Lake County Y West End. “We encourage everyone to get involved in Healthy Kids Day where they can take advantage of resources and support to be healthy and get connected,” added Pattie. Dozens of organizations will be participating in Healthy Kids Day including Lake County Captains, police and fire/EMS services, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Public Health Department, Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland Children’s Museum, Play CLE, Destination Cleveland, and SkyZone - among others.
