HorseFest

Enjoy the majestic beauty, splendor and grace of the horse in a myriad of sizes and colors during HorseFest at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, May 19 and 20, 9 am–5 pm. Explore the unique relationship equines have shared with humans to farm, build cities and influence cultures. HorseFest offers visitors a variety of hands-on activities for all ages, presentations, demonstrations, and competitions.

Whispery Pines Percherons (pictured) is the featured presenter this year at HorseFest. They will showcase the versatility and beauty of the Percheron breed. From plowing, logging, and clinics on hitching, to Roman and tandem riding, plus a dramatic presentation of a six-horse hitch. Watch for special appearances by The Headless Horseman and Wonder Woman.

HorseFest offers an array of exciting, informative and entertaining equine demonstrations throughout the weekend including Reiki, saddle fitting, police horses and massage therapy. Meet and learn about a variety of horse breeds from the owners and find out their unique qualities. Some of the breeds presented at HorseFest include the Belgian, Clydesdale, Friesian, Haflinger, Norwegian Fjord, Paint, Standardbred, Thoroughbred, and Welsh Cob.

Young cowboys and cowgirls will enjoy hands-on equine activities throughout the weekend including grooming and driving a miniature horse, crafts and face painting. Pony rides are available ($4 each), weather permitting

HorseFest is included with regular Farmpark admission. Farmpark members and children younger than two are free.
