Cleveland Metroparks Zoo announces return of Asian Lantern Festival

Tickets are on sale now for the summer’s popular Asian Lantern Festival presented by Meijer returning to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Friday, July 5 through Sunday, August 25.

Experience the wonder of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo illuminated after dark, featuring live acrobatic performances every hour on the Fifth Third Bank Stage and a variety of culturally-inspired cuisine at the MetroHealth Asian Food Market.

“Since the inception of Asian Lantern Festival, nearly one million visitors have experienced northeast Ohio’s biggest summer event,” said Kelly Manderfield, Cleveland Metroparks chief marketing officer. “Thanks to the support of our incredible community partners, we’re thrilled to offer guests all-new imaginative displays and more ways than ever to experience the festival with the addition of Dino Cove and Swan Voyage.”

In its seventh year, Asian Lantern Festival promises all new large-scale displays and Instagrammable moments, including a 50-foot-tall pagoda, walk-through tunnels, and immersive themed areas including Crystal World and the Blooming Gardens.

In addition to the full walk-through experience Thursdays through Sundays from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the Zoo is excited to announce the return of the Asian Lantern Festival Drive-Through Experience. On select nights, guests will be able to drive-through the festival from the comfort of their personal vehicles.

The Zoo’s newest summer attractions, Dino Cove and Swan Voyage, will be open during the festival for guests to enjoy. Access to Dino Cove is included with Asian Lantern Festival admission. Tickets for Swan Voyage are $15 and can be purchased at attraction ticket stations throughout the Zoo, allowing guests to explore the lanterns on Waterfowl Lake aboard the Swan paddleboats. The paddleboats carry up to five passengers and are open until dusk each evening of the festival. The Eagle Zip Adventure zipline experience will also operate during festival hours.

Tickets are on sale now and guests can reserve their spot and save by purchasing tickets in advance. The advance discounted cost for Zoo members is $21 or a four-pack for $63. Advance nonmember tickets are $24 or a four-pack for $73. Individual same-day tickets can be purchased at the box office for $27 until 9:30 p.m. Drive-through tickets are $45 per vehicle for members and $55 per vehicle for nonmembers. Children under 2 are admitted free. Advance tickets are on sale now at FutureForWildlife.org/lanterns.
