Dick Bennett, executive director and CEO of the Lake County Y commented, “Strong communities don’t just happen, they’re the result of steady leadership and stewardship of strong values.  By investing in our kids, our health and our neighbors the Lake County Y ensures everyone has access to opportunities to be healthy, confident and connected.  From athletics, to education, to health services, to safe spaces, the Y fills the gaps where society falls short.  Every person invested in the Dream House understands the impact the Y has in strengthening our communities.”

The Lake County YMCA 2017 Dream House, built by Knez Homes, is 3,565 sq. ft. plus 1,486 sq. ft. of finished lower level – the largest Dream House yet!  The contemporary colonial features an open floor plan with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, great room, office/studio, second floor laundry, morning room, entertainment area, yoga studio, workout room and a three-car garage.

Karen Krauss and Kate Weaver, design co-coordinators for the Dream House said, “This year's house is the largest we have built.  With so many rooms, we were able to be creative and add rooms that we have never done before.”

“This Dream House has a combination of both sophistication, as in the large great room and amazing master suite, and whimsy with the yoga/meditation room and the pet retreat, as well as all of the beautiful amenities that visitors are used to seeing in the Dream House.  Something for everyone… even man’s best friend,” Krauss added.

“Building a better us takes hard work, dedication and most of all, collaboration.  From planning and construction to managing daily tours, hundreds of volunteers give their time and talents to ensure we provide everyone with the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.  A huge 'thank you' to our major sponsors for 2017 including Knez Homes, WKYC-TV3, The Chevy Network/Classic Chevrolet, and Guhde Flooring,” said Scott Taylor, Lake County YMCA chief advancement officer.

Since 1993, the Lake County YMCA Dream House has not only given a winning family the opportunity of a lifetime, but also provided more than $4 million (approximately $200,000 per year) for program and facility enhancements that allow the Y to engage children, families and seniors annually in diverse programs that deliver lasting personal and social change across the community.
