Christmas Tea at the History Center
Reservations are now being taken for the “A Little Bit of Magic Christmas Tea” at the Lake County History Center, Saturday, December 9 from 1 pm–4 pm. A holiday tradition, the tea turns the party room at the center into a Victorian showcase. Tables are covered with white table cloths and dressed with holiday décor. The event brings tiered plates to the table filled with tea sandwiches, fruit and treats for the guests. Tea and apple cider will also be available.
Making the event special is a visit from Father Christmas who explains who he is and how he is different from the familiar Santa Claus. In addition to handing out treats, Father Christmas will be available for family photos in a beautiful Victorian setting. Children will also have the opportunity to decorate gingerbread cookies. A delightful time to just slow down and enjoy the season with friends and family, the Christmas Tea will also feature “Yesterday’s Christmas,” a look back at past holidays in the area and the origins of many Christmas traditions.
New this year will be a “Holly Dolly Raffle” as guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win one of two beautiful dolls donated from a private collection.
Before or after the tea, guests will have the opportunity to explore the many galleries and exhibits, all displaying lavish holiday themes and decorations. A special treat is a stop at the “Magical Musical Machines” exhibit of turn of the century music boxes from inches to feet in size. There are also “selfie frames” for visitors who can totally change their look by holding up a frame and posing behind it.
Reservations can be made online at Eventbrite or by calling the Lake County Historical Society at 440-639-2945. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 4-11 and children 3 and under are free. For further information or questions, please call the center at 440-639-2945 or visit their website.
