Local teacher earns ICoach designation from INFOhio

Mrs. Horne helps 6th graders design, engineer, and build brushbots.

Christine Horne, STEM coordinator at St. Gabriel School in Concord, has earned certification as St. Gabriel’s ICoach form INFOhio, Ohio’s pre-K-12 digital library optimized by the Management Council.  The certification requires more than 15 hours of group training and individual study, which was completed on her own time.

ICoaches—short for “integrations coaches”—work with teachers to incorporate digital technology and research tools in their classrooms. Horne joins 281 other educators around Ohio who have received Building ICoach certification.

Building ICoaches are a linchpin in promoting INFOhio’s free resources and services to educators across the state,“ said INFOhio’s Executive Director Theresa M. Fredericka. “An ICoach has firsthand experience with the demands classroom educators face along with boundless curiosity about the newest educational technologies. And they love to share their excitement.”

Mrs. Donna Lee Saladino, school principal, agrees. “Christine is definitely a building leader. Taking personal time to learn more about these digital tools will directly and positively affect the quality of instruction our students receive.”
