St. Gabriel youth raise over $5,000 for Project Hope
St. Gabriel parish youth group Builders of the Kingdom (BOK)
sponsored a Lenten food fast on March 10, where over 45 sixth, seventh,
and eighth grade participants explored the three pillars of Lent ––
prayer, fasting, and acts of love. From 10 am to 10 pm students fasted from
technology and meals with only bread and water. They visited the Lake County
homeless shelter, Project Hope, and presented the shelter with a little
over $5,000 that they raised to help the homeless of Lake County.
Other activities included building cardboard tents to experience the elements a homeless person might endure and a prayer service with Deacon Bob Grgic which focused on Eucharistic Adoration. Many parent volunteers helped with this event as well.
