The Music Settlement to open second campus in Ohio City this fall

The Music Settlement (TMS), a 106-year-old organization that provides arts-infused education programs accessible to all regardless of age, background, or financial status, will open its second campus this August in Ohio City.   TMS purchased a 19,000+ square foot space on the ground floor of The Quarter, an apartment & retail project on Detroit Avenue between W. 26th and W. 28th.

“This is a transformational time in TMS’s history and we are thrilled to now expand our impact in the community with an Ohio City campus,” said TMS CEO Geri Presti.

The Music Settlement offers financial aid and scholarships for all of their program areas – music instruction, music therapy, early childhood, and dance – at both campuses.

“Our play-based early childhood programs encourage children’s natural curiosity,” said Karen Heitlinger, chair of the TMS Center for Early Childhood.  “Specials in science, music, and drama help children to fully experience the world around them, while also fostering their social-emotional development.”  Preschool and day school information is online at TMSkids.org.

TMS offers music instruction and music therapy to age ranges from infant to senior adult.  Focusing on the needs of the community, the Ohio City campus will provide private lessons, small-group classes, and ensembles.

The Center for Music Therapy will help people with disabilities connect with others, addressing individual interests and customized goals in private and group sessions.

Financial aid is available.  Visit www.TheMusicSettlement.org/all for more information.
