St. Gabriel School eighth grade serves Greater Cleveland Food Bank with Cleveland Indians

To celebrate Catholic Schools Week, St. Gabriel School focused on serving others.  The theme for the week was an inspirational quote by Mother Teresa, “Do small things with great love.”

All Grizzlies rolled up their sleeves and got to work helping the community in various ways.  Organizations that benefited were Little Annie’s Hope Train with care packages; St. Gabriel Food Pantry with birthday party bags and donations; Karpos Meal Ministry with wrapping silverware with words of hope; Guardian Angel prayer cards for residents at Altercare; Birthright was given clothes and donations; and bagged lunches were prepared for Project Hope.

Eighth graders held a canned food drive for St. Gabriel Food Pantry and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.  On Friday, January 31, Grizzlies took their donations to the Food Bank and worked side by side with Cleveland Indians pitchers, Carlos ‘Cookie’ Carrasco, and Logan Allen.  The students and players packed 4½ pallets of to-go bags for the community in need.

The St. Gabriel School Student Council also presented a check to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank for $500 from a candy gram initiative.

After working, Carrasco and Allen shared their love of serving the community with the students in a question and answer time and challenged them to keep working to make the world a better place.
