Pull Tab Palooza Returns April 21, 2023
Girl Scouts at the 2022 event.
The annual Pull Tab Palooza event returns to Ronald McDonald House in celebration of Earth Day, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 21. The outdoor event takes place rain or shine at the Cleveland and Akron House locations. No registration is needed.
More than 200 community supporters are expected to attend the family-friendly, free event to add their pull tab collections to large on-site recycling bins. Participants can drive through and drop off tabs or park to enjoy the fun. Activities include games, food trucks/stands, crafts, and visits with pet therapy volunteers and costumed characters—special guests from Cleveland Ghostbusters, Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio, Star Wars 501st Legion, Teddy the Trooper from Akron & Canton State Highway Patrol Posts, and more.
“Every tab pulled represents an act of kindness that helps inspire hope when and where families need it most,” according to Judy Hubbard, RMHC NEO chief operating officer. Recycling partners Ferrous Processing & Trading Co. and Metalico Annaco turn recycled tabs into monetary donations based on the current market rate of scrap aluminum. The donations support the RMHC Family Fund, which helps with unexpected guest family needs, assistance in emergencies, and gifts for special occasions they may be celebrating while away from home.
New for 2023! Cleveland Guardians right fielder Oscar Gonzalez is leading the charge for fans to collect pull tabs at Progressive Field throughout the season. Pull tabs collected from the Guardians’ first homestand will be delivered to the Cleveland Pull Tab Palooza.
