Early intervention empowers young children

As a provider to the Ohio Statewide EI System, Broadmoor School in Lake County focuses on how early intervention can assist a family in meeting the unique needs of their child.

“It's such a joy when families share how EI enriches their lives and empowers young children,” said Liz Miller, director of children’s services for the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities. “Families are provided strategies that can be built into naturally occurring routines in their child’s typical day.”

Amanda and Mike, Violet's parents, shared how EI and supports made a world of difference for them and their daughter.

"Violet is now 3 years old and has been with early intervention since she was 3 months old. We were introduced to the program through our medical care team who thought it would be a fit to help our family navigate Violet’s developmental milestones as a child born with a cleft lip and congenital condition. Early Intervention was wonderful, not only for Violet, but for us as first-time parents. It allowed us to help Violet reach her milestones and supported us with our concerns in all areas of development.

We saw our daughter grow by leaps and bounds. The coaching model of the program has given us realistic ideas and ways to help Violet with everyday routines. She has become an outgoing fearless toddler that loves to giggle and play. We will be forever grateful the EI program was there to support our family."
