Heights Libraries Summer Reading Challenge

Families across Northeast Ohio are invited to dig into a summer filled with books, activities, and prizes during Heights Libraries’ all-ages Summer Reading Challenge, "Unearth a Story," running June 1 through August 14.

Designed for readers of all ages, the annual program encourages children, teens, and adults to keep reading all summer long while participating in fun library activities and earning chances to win exciting prizes.

Youth participants (18 and under) earn digital raffle tickets by logging days spent reading, while adults (19+) earn entries based on books completed. Readers can boost their chances of winning by attending library programs, submitting book reviews, and completing bonus activities.

This year’s dinosaur-themed adventure invites the entire community to read together while tracking collective progress toward a shared community reading goal. Along the way, participants will uncover a path to “dino-tastic treasure” through interactive displays and entertaining video updates.

Children and teens can earn special rewards throughout the challenge, while supplies last:

Registration Prize: Select a free prize book to kick off the summer.

15 Days of Reading: Choose an ice cream voucher from Ben & Jerry’s, Mitchell’s Ice Cream, or Tommy’s.

30 Days of Reading: Earn another free prize book and an invitation to an exclusive End-of-Summer Party for the whole family.

Readers can win a year of Mitchell's Ice Cream, memberships to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Great Lakes Science Center, and gift cards to Dewey’s Pizza, Phoenix Coffee, Cedar Lee Theatre, Blick Art Materials, or local independent bookstores.
