Make a Bluebird House Workshop

As early as March, bluebirds begin searching for a place to nest. They will readily accept manmade boxes put out for them, but it is important to know that you must monitor your boxes in order for your bluebirds to be successful. Throw the welcome mat down in 2018 by building a bluebird house during the Make a Bluebird House Workshop on Saturday, March 3, 1 to 3 p.m. at Big Creek Park. For just $10, we’ll lead you in creating a hospitable bird house that you will then take home for placement, plus give you pointers on being a responsible bluebird landlord, including where and how to place your box, what other species could potentially move in, and how to keep your nesters safe! Registration is required at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516, which may also be called with questions. Participants should register “per house” rather than “per person.” Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center, located at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township, is fully wheelchair/stroller accessible. For more on Geauga Park District offerings, please call 440-286-9516 or visit Geauga Park District online via www.geaugaparkdistrict.org, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube.
