FREE workshop for parents & kids
Fairmount Center for the Arts & Fit Learning Cleveland
Fairmount Center for the Arts, a nonprofit community center for the arts, is pleased to announce a unique partnership with Fit Learning Cleveland to offer a FREE afternoon program for both parents and kids. It will take place on Saturday, October 16, from 1-2 p.m. at Fairmount Center for the Arts.
For parents, Dr. Corinne Gist, owner and director of Fit Learning Cleveland, will present a session on “back to school during COVID-19: tips for supporting your child’s academic growth and success.” Dr. Gist shares that, “Going back to school can be difficult even in the best of times. Returning during a pandemic can make it even harder.” Dr. Gist will discuss the possible effects of the pandemic on student achievement, how these effects can be mitigated by developing fluent academic skills, and tips for keeping your child academically engaged during these unprecedented times.
Held at the same time as the parent workshop, children ages 4-8 years, will be invited to participate in a “SymFUNNY” Music workshop which will be held upstairs. Children will have fun exploring and creating music as they will explore a variety of musical concepts through creating, listening to and discovering music and a variety of musical instruments.
Additionally, children will experience the French horn and then even create a musical instrument of their own. Workshop will be led by Jeannie Fleming-Gifford, the executive director of Fairmount Center for the Arts and co-author of the book “SymFUNNY.”
